WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING(S) I HAVE LEARNT IN MMC CLASS?

Two days ago after the screening ended, we moved on to peer evaluation and a photo taking session with everyone which I believe most of us seems smiling widely and happily in the photo but deep down inside of MOST of us we felt like one kind wey I swear I'm not sure one kind or two kinds, not sure shit is an appropriate word to use but 70% of the "DARURAT" feeling and 30% feeling like a Lion Dance ; ensuring you that this is way more appropriate than the word shit. To ask me what are the things I have learnt in class I will probably find it the hardest question on earth already but to bring it to the MOST IMPORTANT, I must say everything is equally important.

As I'm typing these right now the only thought I have in mind now is having the right lecturer teaching the right subject in a right way is the MOST IMPORTANT thing. In this post, would like to confess again that how much regret I felt when I first step back into MMC class during the first week because if only I work hard like how I did this time, I would have just score well in MMC back then but the feeling is totally different now, I feel no regret taking up this subject again. Learned a lot of things, having 3 caring and lovely lecturers this semester really help a lot in boosting up the energy in doing well in this subject. I always believe that it's not about memorising and forgetting after walking out from the examination hall but to have lecturers teaching a boring subject in an interesting way, sacrificing their time to let us as a student to consult and also bringing us to the Art Galleries, explaining everything in details to the students, it is a good way to let the students to remember things better after understanding it. Teaching is not just about turning on the projector, going through slides then asking students if they understand what you have thought or not but to come out with some quiz to test (of course the kind of Bingo style quiz, I have to admit, interesting), I don't know how to put it in a clearer way but the "indirect" support is there, unless the student is damn stupid then sorry to say, that will be the particular student that doesn't appreciate what the lecturers have done giving out their precious time just to explain and allowing us to consult till late night - picking up calls, responding via WhatsApp etc.

Guess I still haven't highlight on the MOST IMPORTANT point, I'm suck in explaining at times, especially when it comes to post like this where I find that confessing such thing makes me a lil emotional haha, then I find difficulty in making a clear picture for the readers now. Let's make it short, to appreciate art, lets learn how to appreciate people around us, for example, lecturers who have been doing so much, IF we were to compare these 3 lecturers with other lecturers, we should be feeling 100 times grateful, at least they listen and they appreciate our effort. When we get some stupid lecturers who teach us, we complain that we want a better lecturer. When we have it now, all we need is to appreciate and to accept their flaws too at the same time - we are humans and we all have flaws. Anyway, I would like to end my post here by thanking Dr Carmen, Dr Andrew and Ms Ezzati. If anyone of you or the 3 of you dearest lecturers who are reading this, please know that you guys are awesome and the 3 of you are the best lecturers I have ever met so far - will be 5 if Ms June and Mr Joe are both included. Thank you for such good memories, my blessings be with all of you.

Of course this is not really the end of this post, I would like to thank my groupmates for the hard work and going through all the sleepless night with me. Having the trust in me editing the documentary and creating the best moments together, I will remember that till my next life okay. From shooting to reshooting, yet you guys gave it the best of the best when we went for the reshoot session. Of course, I'm sorry for being not so helpful at times and care too much about positions but I have promised someone that I have to share my experience and teach you guys, I don't mean to do so I hope each and every Dato' Datins will understand that whatever things you've been through with me, will makes you stronger (someday you will understand). Thank you for everything once again. I love you you you and you, xx.

  1. Firstly, thank you for always being so enthusiastic about writing and sharing your thoughts and feelings. You even threw in a few extra blog posts that I enjoyed reading very much since they were unexpected :) You have gone the extra mile and for that, I really appreciate the effort.

I too think this semester is very different from the time I taught you before. Actually ever since teaching MMC with Andrew and Ezzati, class has been different. It is good to have people who share my passion for doing new and interesting and creative things in class, to make teaching fun and learning even more so, and to have students who appreciate all that.

So, we could not have done all the things you have enjoyed this semester if it were not for the power of students like yourself contributing, participating, enjoying and also doing your best in your assignments and being so attentive and fully energetic during field trips! I have become a better teacher because you have become a better student as well :)

Thank you for your kind comments and I am really glad you still had an awesome experience retaking the class because in the end, it is not what happened in the past that counts but what you have done to make the present and the future much better and more meaningful than before!
